BOOST

What is BOOST?

Boost is an advocacy group formed in early 2011 for the improvement of bicycle safety in the greater Tuscaloosa area.

Our Vision:

To create a vibrant and healthy city and citizenry by promoting cycling for safe travel, exercise, cleaner air, and less traffic congestion.

How are we going to do this?

We will use guidelines from the LAB Bicycle Friendly Community program.  Tuscaloosa's first application resulted in an Honorable Mention by the League of American Bicyclists.  Through feedback from LAB, we have begun forming a list of tasks we think are attainable by you as bicycle advocates.

Projects in Progress:

Helmet Handout Program - a partnership with the Tuscaloosa Police Department, VeloCity Pro Cycle, and BOOST.

Tuscaloosa Bike Map – what streets are safer, what intersections to stay clear of!

Sharrows – Sharrows are arrow stencils painted to show where bicyclists should ride, and for motorists to see there may be bikes ahead.  (Powerpoint presentation)

Tuscaloosa Bicycle Relief - a combined effort of VeloCity Pro Cycle, Druid City Bicycle Club, BOOST and Trek to provide bicycles, helmets and locks as a means of transportation to victims of Tuscaloosa's 4/27 tornadoes.
