There will be two monthly scheduled rides at Lake Lurleen for 2012. The first is the second Friday night ride of each month and, the second is the last Sunday ride of each month. The Friday night rides will start at 6 p.m. and the Sunday rides will start at 1:30 p.m. Both of these rides qualify for getting your name in the hat for swag drawings. The drawing for swag will take place at the last Sunday ride of each month which starts this coming Sunday January 29. There are two exceptions to the last Sunday rides…March 25 ride will be held on April 1 due to the Tour d’ Tuscaloosa race is at Lake Lurleen that day, and the last – last Sunday ride in December will be Monday December 31 for the end of the year ride.
Dirty Knobbers Contest: The two rides mentioned above will get your name in the hat for the monthly drawings as will other rides and events that will be announced each month, so stay tuned. We will start with an empty hat each month. Example, if your name is in hat already for January you will have to ride a selected contest ride again in February to get your name in the hat for the February drawing. Your name will go into the hat for each qualifying ride you ride for that month and twice if the temp drops below freezing or goes above 95 degrees during the ride. Drawings will be held at the last Sunday ride of each month just before the ride. You must be geared up and ready to ride (and actually ride) in order to get your name in the hat for the last Sunday ride.

The Southeast Bike Expo is partnering with IMBA and SORBA to benefit mountain bike advocacy in the southeast. This is the inaugural year of this event and we are hoping it will be a special one. If you like to check out new bikes and show your love for trails, this is the thing to do in 2012.
The event will be bringing manufacturers from all over the country to show and demo their products. Companies like Trek, Niner, Specialized, Scott, Jamis, Felt, Tifosi, Pearl Izumi, Ergon, Maxxis, Shimano, and SRAM will be there to show off their latest and greatest products. Many more have committed. Check the website for updates.
The expo is open to the general public and for just $20 (advance price) you will have access to the entire expo weekend. With your $20 advance ticket you also get registered to win all kinds of prizes during the weekend. The goal is to put on a fun event in a great location for very low cost to manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.
The Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia will be the location of the expo. The GIHP was the site of the 1996 Olympic Mountain Bike cross-country course. This gives you the opportunity to use some world-class MTB trails on your off-road demo. There will also be an area for road bike demos. This unique outdoor demo area has space for over 1000 vendors.
This new event gives you the consumer the ability to actually ride the new products and then talk with the manufacturers about them.
The Southeast Bike Expo will take place February 25th-26th, 2012.

THE TASHKA TRAIL AT LAKE LURLEEN STATE PARK
Overview of Tashka Trail Multi-use Trail System at Lake Lurleen State Park Primary Tashka Trail Map Please print a copy of the map and take with you on your next excursion to Lake Lurleen. Map updates will be posted on this website when available. If riding in the afternoon be aware of the sunset time and turn around in time to make it back before dark. This is a backcountry environment with no short-cuts back to the parking lot. CAUTION – As with all outdoor activities there are inherent dangers that trail users must accept. Rough terrain, downed trees and limbs, erosion, inclement weather, stinging and biting insects, and slithering critters are just a few of the dangers on the trail. Bottomline…BE CAREFUL AND RIDE/HIKE/RUN AT YOUR OWN RISK! Sokol Trail Map Oak Mountain Trails Swayback Mountain Trails Dirty Spokes.com
