More rides in May
The Ride of Silence yesterday was a very calm though somewhat somber ride as 40+ cyclists slowly circled the streets of Tuscaloosa and on to Northport and back. This ride honored those who have been injured or killed by a vehicle while cycling. Special thanks to Laurie Bonnici for organizing the ride, the ride leaders, and to the many Tuscaloosa City Policemen that escorted the riders.
Today: Group ride at 5:30 from the fire station (intersection of New Watermelon and Lake Nicol Roads)
Friday: Leisure Ride from Capitol Park starting at 5:30.
Saturday: Ride of Love, leaving from the IHOP on Skyland at 6:00 am. If you are not riding the ROL, please come out to IHOP and cheer on those that will be spending the next 12-13 hours on their 153 mile trek to Camp Smile-a-Mile. If you have not already donated to the ROL, please do so.
While there is no organized group ride this day, however those interested in riding should gather at Capitol Park at 7:30 am and decide on a route.
Sunday: Group rides at 4:00 at Capitol Park and fire station
Monday: Mountain Bike ride at Munny Sokol Park starting at 5:45 pm
Tuesday: Group ride from Capitol Park at 5:30
Enjoy the week,
Stephen Secor
DCBC road bike ride coordinator
