Tomorrow’s group ride from Capitol Park will be annual Mule Day Ride to Gordo and back. We will start at 7am and head to Fosters, take Wesley Chapel to Sipsey Valley then left on Romulus and eventually a right on Benevola Rd (Co Rd 63). At Hwy 82, take a left and then a right onto Co Rd 30 and soon back on to 82 before hitting Gordo. Riders can decide to stop at the CVS on 82 or to head into Gordo for the Mule Day festivities (you may even see Elly May Clampett). The return starts off on Upper Columbus (aka Echola Rd, Co Rd 21, Co Rd 4 – a right about a mile north of Gordo) and riders can decide to continue on Upper Columbus, or to take the right on the Sand Springs Church Rd to Lower Columbus so that they can stop at the store in Coker. From Coker or Upper Columbus, return can be via Sam Sutton, right on Mt Olive, left on Olivewood and right on Rose Blvd, through the toll gates and left on Goodrich. There is a map on the DCBC website (under Rides).
The weather forecast is very atypical for a Mule Day ride which historically has been one of the hottest rides of the year. Expect sunny skies but much cooler temperatures (60’s-70’s).
